Hydraulic Damper Structure Design of a Novel Intelligent Knee Prosthesis

Objective To design a hydraulic damper structure for intelligent knee prosthesis which can regulate buckling and stretching damping continuously and independently using one motor. Methods The intelligent knee prosthesis structure was designed. The mechanical system and innovative valve structure were established. Conclusion A new type of bionic knee joint structure was designed. Flexion and extension damping were regulated continuously and independently by rotation of the butterfly valve which driven by a single motor. The damping of knee joint can be controlled by adjusting the flow area through the rotation of butterfly valve plate to change the valve opening.
