Análisis de la cadena de producción de maíz en el Valle San Andrés, La Palma

An investigation was carried out in San Andres Valley, at the south zone of La Palma town, Pinar del Rio province. The objective was to value the productive corn chain in this region. With the purpose of collecting data were interviewed individually the main actors of the productive chain. To process the information were organized Data that allowed the analyses of frequencies and the calculations of average and percentage. Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel 2016 were used to create tables and figures. With all collected information a SWOT matrix analysis was carried out to discover strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities of the studied system. It was found the existence an incomplete productive corn chain with absence of important components as supplier and elaborators. The flows between components are limited to the immediate chain component, without integration between the rest of them, issue that limits any possibility of the chain’s development.
