Surgical treatment for primary angle closure glaucoma

2001
Primary angle closure glaucoma is one of the leading causes of blindness in Asia. Surgical intervention is often needed to control the intraocular pressure for patients with advanced glaucoma. The current surgical modalities include laser peripheral iridoplasty, lens extraction, trabeculectomy, goniosynechialysis, com- bined procedures, glaucoma implants, and cyclo- destruction. The choice of surgical treatment depends on the surgeon’s experience and the stage of the disease.
