[A bibliographic review about education for the elective cardiosurgical patients: does an educational activity during the preoperative period improve wellness and quality of life of the postoperative period?].
2010
UNLABELLED: It's well known that a preoperative educational activity facilitates the course of the postoperative period with a reduction of anxiety, pain and stress. Nevertheless at the present effectiveness of such activity is still underestimated. The current literature agrees that a correct educational training represents an important nursing care activity, but up to date, the scientific evidences are not yet diffused in our hospitals. GOAL OF THE STUDY: To investigate the efficacy of a preoperative educational training on adult cardiosurgical patients (age > 18), on wellness and improvement of postoperative quality of life. STRATEGY: Accurate literature investigation on Medline, Trip database, Joanna Briggs Institute website and EBN Study Center Policlinico S.Orsola-Malpighi (Italy) website, was performed on a 5 years period (2003 - 2007). CONCLUSIONS: Level II recommendations about some educational aspects were highlighted: time of learning, knowledge, ability and correct performance of the exercises.
