Dealing with the menopause: the French exception

In attempts to treat them, a hormonal substitution treatment appeared a few decades ago. It was a hit at the time and new galenic (progestagenic) specialities appeared several times a year, so heavy was the demand. Then the toll of defeat rang when the Women’s Health Investigators (WHI) (2002) and Million Women Studies (MWS) (Beral 2003) were published. If the second study can be contested on the grounds of methodology, the fi rst one is a counter placebo randomized prospective study.
