The relationship between ERG11 gene mutation and fluconazole -resistance of Candida tropicalis

Objective To explore the relationship between ERG11 gene mutation and fluconazole-resistance of Candida tropicalis. Methods ERG11 genes of Candida tropicalis were amplified by PCR, and their nucleotide sequences were determined in order to detect point mutations related to fluconazole-resistance. Results The results showed 3 base mutations at +395, +513, +783 positions, which could result a single amino acid substitution in the fluconazole -resistance strain. Conclusion It is suggested that the gene mutation of ERG11 on the amino acid sequence is relative to the fluconazole-resistance.
