Features of ultrasonic monitoring of welded joints of vessels and equipment made of chromium-nickel steels of the austenitic and austenitic-ferritic classes

2008
Theoretical bases and the results of experimental studies and practical application of ultrasonic monitoring (USM) are considered for butt and corner welded joints and equipment made of corrosion-resistant steels of the austenitic and austenitic-ferritic classes with a wall thickness of 4–30 mm. It is shown that the reliability of detecting impermissible weld defects relates to the requirements of specifications. USM entirely replaces radiographic monitoring.
