Steel is a valuable resource and is used world wide in fundamental industries however the high demand for steel causes a number of environmental threats due to the consequences of mining, future rise in steel prices and the depletion of high quality iron ores. The purpose of this study is to exam how Circular Economy facilitated in a Cradle to Cradle Passport can ensure a better recycling of steel from containerships. The overall research method is composed of a casestudy of Triple E. In addition PESTEL is used to identify drivers and levers for the adaption of the passport to other shipping companies. The conclusion is clear: the Cradle to Cradle passport has to be adopted by other shipping companies to fulfill its ambition and the main driver for adaption of the passport is found in its possible use as a branding tool to gain new customers and market share.
