Criteria for the Adoption of a Support Information System for People’s Mobility

2021
In order to promote people’s well-being, the configuration of intelligent environments (AmI environments) is possible due to the current development of communication and information technologies. In AmI environments it is possible to implement information systems able to support each person in performing activities necessary for living comfortably. In the paper information systems for supporting people in planning where to move and how to reach the chosen place are considered. First the meaning of the concepts as access to services in the environment (accessibility) and planning the movement to the place of interest (mobility) are considered, taking also into account the problem of possible barriers (physical accessibility). Then, existing applications for navigation are considered, pointing out the limitations from the perspective of the lack of adaptability to single users. Finally, the need of new support information systems is briefly discussed, from the perspectives of why they are needed, how they may be used, and how they can be implemented.
