Formation of Cube and Goss Texture After Primary Recrystallization in Electrical Steels

2014
Recrystallization texture evolution in 2.1 pct Si electrical steel sheets was investigated with X-ray diffraction and electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD) analysis. The beneficial Cube ({100} 〈001〉 ) and Goss ({110} 〈001〉 ) components dominate primary recrystallization texture after final annealing at 1123 K (850 °C). It is found that Cube grains nucleate within {114} 〈481〉 deformed grains, and the nucleation of Cube grains is later than that of Goss grains during recrystallization. The formation of strong Cube and Goss texture is explained in terms of both the oriented nucleation and selective growth mechanisms.
