Some Applications of Abstract Algebra to High School Teaching: Task Design and Polynomial Interpolation

I look at two applications of abstract algebra to high school teaching: the use of the arithmetic of quadratic fields to design problems with rational solutions and the use of Mahler polynomials and Lagrange Interpolation to fit a polynomial function to a set of data.
