High frequency wave propagation in structured materials: Modeling results

A porous aluminium plate with a regular columnar microstructure exhibits unusual properties when interacting with high frequency acoustic waves. Finite element modeling reproduces this behaviour and a more detailed analysis explains the underlying physics.
