Color Atlas of Laparoscopy.

Peritoneoscopy, although used with some frequency as a diagnostic tool in Europe and South America, has found less acceptance in this country. The proliferation of fiber optic instruments of all types over the past five years has rekindled an interest here in the use of this procedure as a clinical diagnostic aid. Color Atlas of Laparoscopy is the English-translated counterpart of the German edition published in 1968. This volume is conveniently arranged, by chapter, into both organ systems such as the peritoneum or the liver and into discussions of clinical syndromes such as the differential diagnosis of jaundice and portal hypertension. Each chapter has a brief introduction. There is a general introductory section concerned with the indications, contraindications and techniques of peritoneoscopy. However, the Atlas is not a textbook of peritoneoscopy, and this volume alone is not sufficient to instruct the neophyte in this procedure. Its descriptions are succinct; however,
