Effect of different types of N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMA) on hormone level and metabolism parameters in serum of finishing pigs

2009
Effects of different types of N-methyl-D-aspartate(NMA) on hormone level and biochemical index in serum of finishing pigs were studied. One hundred and twenty finishing pigs(Duroc×Landrace×Yorkshire) with an average initial weight of 60 kg were allotted to four groups.Group 1 was the control group, group 2,3 and 4 were added 100 mg/kg NMA of ordinary NMA(O-NMA),adsorbed NMA(A-NMA) and nano NMA(N-NMA),respectively.The results showed that N-NMA enhanced GH and IGF-I concentration by 41.01%(P0.05)and 21.91%(P0.05),respectively.A-NMA and N-NMA increased FT3 by 51.79%(P0.05)and 60.71%(P0.05),and improved FT4 by 200.75%(P0.05)and 236.48%(P0.05)respectively.Adding NMA has no obvious effect on insulin concentration.Compared with the control group,N-NMA group decreased serum urea nitrogen by 13.96%(P0.05),and increased serum glucose and total protein concentration by 16.92% and 11.22%(P0.05),respectively.N-NMA is beneficial to improve growth performance by stimulating GH and IGF-I secretion and influencing metabolism parameters of serum in finishing pigs.
