Experimental study on the cleft lip and palate

Wistar Imamichi rats were given a single subcutaneous injection of suspension of dexamethasone from the 9 th day to the 12 th day of gestation. Cleft palates in the fetuses were observed after rats were sacrificed with ether inhalation followed by cervical dislocation at the 20 th day of gestation.In the group administered 1. 6 mg of dexamethasone, the incidence of cleft palate was 64. 6% at the 10 th day of gestation. In the group administered 3. 2 mg of dexamethasone, the incidence of cleft palate was 78. 7% at the 11 th day of gestation. They both showed high rates.We thought that this method
