Studying the problems of professional training, the researchers pay attention to the insufficient level of development of practical skills necessary for future teachers. There is a need to optimize the process of professional training to organize practice-oriented activities of students from the first years of their studies. Resources to create the conditions of teaching and practical implementation problems of vocational training is the process of activating leadership potential, as it is leadership that can become the basis for the formation of professional qualities of future teachers of physical education. The authors emphasize that students of pedagogical specialties begin their practice only on the third or fourth year of study, and sometimes do not have enough time (according to the core curriculum) to master all the necessary professional competence. Thereby, the special attention should be paid to the problem of the formation and development of professionally significant leadership qualities as the basis of leadership potential, which will contribute to the professional success of future teachers. The article shows the activating technique of leadership potential of future teachers of physical culture and describes their main stages and the results of the training process. Revealed dynamics indicates the effectiveness of the means and methods of activating leadership potential of the future teachers of physical culture. The data described in the article can be used to organize the process of professional training in the field of physical education in educational institutions of secondary and higher education.
