Estratégia cirúrgica para tratamento de fratura de côndilo mandibular

2021
Trauma to the mandibular region that results in fractures of the jaw condylar process can lead to changes not only in facial development, but also in dental occlusion and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) movement. Thus, the diagnosis of fractures and the indication of treatment should be precise to avoid dysfunctions of this joint or even more severe sequelae that alter the growth of the face and jaw or prevent satisfactory opening of the mouth, such as temporomandibular ankylosis. This paper reports a case report of a right mandibular condyle fracture in which the patient had maxillary opening deviation, mouth opening-related pain complaints, and mouth opening limitation and dental disocclusion that was surgically treated by fracture fixation. . After one year postoperatively, the patient evolves with a satisfactory mouth opening without deviation, no pain complaints and a stable occlusion.
