Comparación del efecto de las estatinas con el del aguacate en los lípidos séricos y el precio que paga el paciente

The statins have shown a very important effect on the hyperlipidemia and on the cardiovascular disease. It has been found at the Investigation Department of the Hospital General Dr. Miguel Silva that the avocado is able to modify the serum lipids in an important degree. For this reason, a revision of several papers on statins was made, and the statins’ effect was compared with those of avocado. At the same time, it was checked in the local pharmacies the price of statins, in order to compare with the cost of the avocado. This review shows that the avocado effects are similar to those of statins with no relevant differences. Concerning to the cost of the treatment, it was found that the price of avocado is far much lesser than the statins’.
