Thispaperexplores thebenefits ofsupply chaincollaboration inthedredging industry. More specifically, itlooks atmaintenance management inthe dredging industry andthelogistic consequences of different maintenance policies. Theresearch usesa simulation modelofaclearly identifiable component ina dredging vessel andtherelated spare parts supply chain. Variousmaintenance policies, suchas predictive maintenance and condition basedmonitoring are analyzed fortheir impact onthespare partsupply chain in termsofstockkeeping, orderfulfillment and productivity ofthedredging vessel. Themodelshows thatbothparties couldindeedbenefit frommore collaboration asthis wouldresult inreduced costs and increased production output.
