An Inquiry To Droysen's Historical Hermeneutics

2010
In the development of Western hermeneutics,Droysen's historical hermeneutics is very important and profound. As a historian, who is thinking the question of how historical science is possible,Droysen has absorbed and elaborated the concept of understanding from the Romanticism. Not only does he find the historicity of historical research, but also he finds it play a positive role in historical research.Historians always strive to reconstruct the individual on the basis of the whole from which it emerged, and the whole from the particulars in which it express itself,in the historical understanding which never reaches a definitive end.Although we can find the effect of Hegelianism, those ideas are very close to the concepts of history of effect and fusion of horizons which are put forward by Gadamer. So,not just a concept of methodology,Droysen's historical understanding is also a concept of ontology.
