STABILITY ANALYSIS OF UNDERGROUND RESERVOIR FOR THE CRITICAL CONDITION: A CASE STUDY

2021
Water tank can be constructed on ground, above ground or below ground depending on the requirement. It is used to store water and supply for drinking, industrial and other purposes. Major part of Delhi, water supply is being done by underground reservoirs through booster pumping stations. The ground water tanks are resting on the ground and their walls are subjected to water pressure from sides and the base is subjected to weight of water and pressure of soil from ground. This paper presents the stability analysis of underground water reservoir for critical conditions. Different cases are considered for the stability analysis. Based on the factor of safety, critical Condition is determined. Various methods are discussed and analyzed to overcome the effect of upliftment due to buoyancy for the stability of underground water reservoir.
