Urban Feature Detection by Using Terra Sar-X and Optic Image

In this study it is attempt to obtain earth features using Terra Sar-X (TS-X) and high resolution Quickbird images. Individual artificial structures (i.e. buildings) from high-resolution space borne SAR can be investigated by their characteristic settings of urban settlement patterns. However, the noise inherent in SAR images degrades the interpretability of artificial features. Even eliminating the noise by speckle suppression filters is insufficient to identify urban features from SAR images. Hence, in this study it is aimed to improve the feature extraction ability of TS-X SAR data by fusing it with multispectral Quickbird data. Adoption of PCA based image fusion technique is followed by the MLC algorithm for urban feature delineation.
