Children of God

2015
Few things are more important to us than the natural family. As one thinker put it, the family is the skin that encloses us and protects us from the outside. It is from the family that we gain so much of our education, and learn the values we have. In parents, we have an unqualified love; when an aged parent dies, not matter how naturally or how long he or she lived, we will always miss him or her. We never outgrow the attachment and affection. We want to tell them how we are doing. In brothers and sisters, we have companions for life. They are the only ones who know what it was like to grow up in the family we did. Only the very closest of friends rival the loyalty we have for our families, and once they come that close we talk about them as if they were brothers or sisters. We know that for family or for those who are like family we are willing to sacrifice more, and show more generosity to, than for anybody else.
