Parallel processing for polynomial evaluation with a novel optical interconnection: the inverse perfect shuffle

1993
Abstract A new optoelectronic hybrid numerical system for the parallel processing of polynomial evaluation is presented. A new free-space optical interconnection, the inverse perfect shuffle (IPS), is adopted. For optical implementation of the inverse perfect shuffle, a special polarized prism was designed and used; the inverse perfect shuffle can make the polynomial evaluation operating time minimal, which is proporational to log 2 N .
