Research on aircraft maximum density spotting algorithm based on multi-constraint two-dimensional packing

2021
Objectives  The process of determining the maximum density spot factor of aircraft requires Manual operation, and is labor intensive, time consuming and not that precise. Methods  The multi-constraint two-dimensional packing algorithm is used to determine the maximum density spot factor. Firstly, the constraints is presented, then, based on the lowest-gravity-Center NFP algorithm, combined with the mathematics modeling for distance constraint and the heuristic algorithm for keep-to-the-boundary spotting, the whole maximum density spotting algorithm for flight and hanger deck is presented. Results  With this algorithm, the maximum spotting number of F/A-18C and F-35C aircraft on the Nimitz aircraft carrier, the spot factor of F-35C is calculated, and the result is consistent with the known facts. Conclusions  With this algorithm, the maximum density spot factor of aircraft can be quickly calculated, and this algorithm can be used to guide the spotting suitability design of the newly-build aircraft.
