The Role of Outpatient Transtelephonic ECG Monitoring and Self-Medication Following Acute Myocardial Infarction
1985
Malignant ventricular arrhythmias associated with the various consequences of myocardial ischemia constitute the major cause of sudden, out-of-hospital death in the western societies. Among these, a significant subset of patients is the group having sustained a myocardial infarction in the past [1–3]. This chapter considers a potential approach to this problem being investigated in post-myocardial infarction patients by providing medical help to the patient at risk before the arrival of emergency medical personnel.
