2016
This article deals with problems of economic costs for treatment of patients with stroke. A retrospective analysis of 201 case histories of patients with stroke treated in department for treatment and early rehabilitation in Smolensk Regional Clinical Hospital. The following methods were used: NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale), MMSE (Mini Mental State Examination) scale, The Modified Rankin Scale, Rivermead mobility index. Count of the length and cost of treatment for each patient and additional methods of examination and additional therapy (that was out of the standard treatment of patients with stroke) was made. In the course of the study we revealed a direct correlation between the increase in additional expenses for treatment of the patient, the increase in length of service of treatment and reduce disability. This dependence is more pronounced in younger patients. With increasing age of the patient the costs of treatment increase proportionally, not decreasing the level of disability (rs=0,91). The conclusion about the need to continue rehabilitation and therapeutic activities for patients with mild neurological deficit, and after a standard hospital treatment was made
