Examination of Scientific Creativity Level of Fourth Grade Students in Terms of Several Variables

Creativity can be described as both a process and generating an original outcome at the end of this process. Scientific creativity requires awareness of the steps that are taken and the problems which are solved during the process of generating an outcome. Th e purpose of this study was to examine the fourth-grade students’ scientific creativity levels in terms of several variables. Th e research was quantitative in nature. Th e participants were 75 fourth-grade students located in the district of Bagcilar, Istanbul. Th e data was collected through administering the “Scientific Creativity Survey” to the participating students. Th is survey was devoloped by Hu and Adey (2002) and adapted to Turkish by Kadayifci (2008). Also, in the current investigation, “Personal Info Form” was used to determine students’ gender, parents’ educational levels and students’ achievement in science and technology course. Th ere was no significant diff erence between scientific creativity levels of students and their gender and parents’ educational levels. On the other hand, a significant diff erence was detected between students’ scientific creativity levels and their achievement in science and technology course.
