Electron emision device and displayer using said device

An electron emitting device with high electron emitting efficiency includes a metal or semiconductor electron supplying layer, an insulating layer formed on the electron supplying layer, and a metal film electrode formed on the insulating layer. The insulating layer has a film thickness greater than or equal to 50 nm and the electron supplying layer is made of hydrogenated amorphous silicon. Whenan electric field is applied between the electron supplying layer and the metal film electrode, the electron emitting device will emit electrons.
