With the rapid change and intensive competition in the emerging global economy, the capability to capture, absorb, and develop new knowledge is a key success factor for organizations. Through effective organizational learning, companies will have the speed, innovation, and quality essential to respond competently to the growing expectations of customers and to the threats of competitors. We first examine the strategic role of technological innovation and then examine the importance of organizational learning in creating and managing technology-based innovation. We then propose several factors which influence the rate and effectiveness of organizational learning. Finally, we advance several managerial implications.
