Computational model of neck and spine of human body to examine injuries

2012
In many accidental collision, most of the death cases were related to upper bodies especially head, neck and spinal fracture. In Malaysia, however, there were less investigations have been done to investigate the neck and spinal characteristics. The main objective of the research is to identify the characteristics of neck and spine so that necessary actions can be made. In order to achieve this objective, a computational model of human neck and spinal is developed to stimulate the actual collision condition. Several parameters such as velocity impact and location of impact have been investigated to represent the conditions of collisions. The outcome of the research will provide neck and spinal characteristics and important data of fracture locations and damage severity.
