OPTICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF SOME POWDERED HIGH EXPLOSIVES
1992
We studied the optical characteristics (at wavelength 0.6328 pm) of trotyl, PETN, hexogen, and octogen with dispersions of 1430-22,000 cm2/gm and a density of 0.9 gm/cm s. The measurements were carried out using the photometric sphere method, and the results were reduced using a computer. We obtained the coefficients of reflection, transmission, and absorption of plane layers of high explosive as functions of layer thickness. We determined the value of the indices of absorption and scattering. The distribution of absorbed energy density with depth was determined for a half-space of high explosive during continuous illumination.
