Regulation of microvascular endothelial barrier function: a new mechanism for neuroprotection of statins

2009
Statins not only reduce the incidence of ischemic stroke but also have the neuroprotective effect on ischemic stroke. Experimental studies in recent years have found that the neuroprotective effect of statins is achieved by multiple mechanisms, in which the regulation of microvascular endothelial barrier is a new mechanism. This article reviews the advances in research on this mechanism. Key words: statins;  vascular endothelial cell;  neuroprotection
