Ultra-Wide-Band SAW Sensor with HFM Etched Reflectors

Remotely controlled SAW temperature sensors using Hyperbolically Frequency Modulated (HFM) signals were manufactured and measured. The sensors are Ultra-Wide-Band (UWB) and operate in the 2.0-2.5 GHz frequency range (B=500MHz), including etched reflectors with dispersive delay of 1000ns. The sensor includes two acoustic channels with reflector off-set of 500ns. Packaged devices were measured, giving compressed sensor responses of 2.5ns pulses. Temperature measurements using HFM SAW sensor are reported for both direct and simultaneous remote readout.
