Expanded-Duty Assistants: Attitudes of Army Dentists

1973
A majority of the 699 Army dentists surveyed clearly favor delegation of duties to assistants, including the placement and finishing of restorative materials. This finding is in contrast to the findings from surveys of private practitioners. The more experienced Army dentists are more willing to delegate duties than are the less experienced personnel. Army dentists foresee a real need for expanded-duty assistants, fully expect to use such assistants in the future, and indeed would employ them now if they were available.
