LIFE-THREATENING PERINEAL GANGRENE FROM RECTAL PERFORATION FOLLOWING COLONIC HYDROTHERAPY : A CASE REPORT

Alternative medicine is widely publicised in Singapore. To date there are few reports of complications arising as a result of such treatments. However, there is no legislation as yet governing alternative medicine practitioners. We present an unusual case of a patient who developed life-threatening perineal gangrene as a result of rectal perforation following colonic hydrotherapy. Ann Acad Med Singapore 1999; 28:583-5
