Dielectric response in amorphous and crystalline PbMg1/3Nb2/3O3

2004
The dielectric properties of PbMg1/3Nb2/3O3 in amorphous and crystallized states have been studied within a temperature range of 80–920 K. The maximum of dielectric losses for amorphous state was found below the temperature corresponding to the relaxor transition in crystalline lead magnesium niobate (Tm ≅ 270 K). At high temperatures two anomalies of real ϵ′ and imaginary ϵ″ parts of dielectric permittivity were revealed. These anomalies are caused by process of crystallization at a temperature Tcr ≅ 900 K. The annealing above Tcr leads to an pronounced increase in ϵ′ and shaping of characteristic ϵ′ peak at 270 K, indicating transition to relaxor state.
