Motivación y rendimiento académico en estudiantes de Agronomía Motivation and academic yield in Agronomy students

The Agronomy Major in Ciego de Avila University faces difficulties in its promotion and quality and a hypothesis of this could be the lack of motivation toward the major. The students’ academic motivation and its relation to the academic performance were evaluated. Research instruments used were an Academic Motivation Scale, a survey to find causes hindering academic motivation and one to complete sentences. To analyzed results obtained the methods used were descriptive and inferential through SPSS. The means, the frequency, the nonparametric tests of ranges with sign of Wilcoxon, of Kruskal-Wallisy, the ANOVA of a factor and a contents analysis. The results obtained in the students were higher levels of intrinsic motivation to the extrinsic one, without significant differences.
