Evaluating the diagnostic value of serum alpha-L-fucosidase in primary hepatic carcinoma by receiver operating characteristic curves.

2009
Objective The purpose of this study is to evaluate the diagnostic value of alpha-L-fucosidasen in primary hepatic carcinoma and determine the cut-off value of AFU by Receiver Operating Characteristic(ROC) curves, and comparing the diagnostic value with alpha-fetoprotein.Methods Serum AFU and AFP were measured in 89 patients with PHC,120 with other liver diseases and 202 controls.ROC curves were analyzed by SPSS11.5 and then compared the areas under ROC curves.Result Areas under ROC curves of AFU is 0.869 and AFP is 0.896.Conclusion AFP is superior to AFU in the diagnosis of PHC.The cut-off value of AFU in the diagnosis of PHC is determined as 32 U /L.
