Pharmacodynamics study of Nongbai mixture for relieving coughing-asthma

OBJECTIVE To study the effects of Nongbai mixture on stopping coughing,eliminating phlegm,inhibiting asthma and anti-inflammation.METHODS Ammonium hydroxide induced coughing models in mice,citric acid induced coughing models in guinea pigs,trache-phenol red excretory model in mice,histamine phosphate induced coughing models in guinea pigs,auricle edema models induced by xylene in mice and paw edema models induced by carrageenin in rats were adopted.RESULTS Nongbai mixture could prolong latent period of cough in mice and guinea pigs and decrease the frepuency of cough,increase phlegm-eliminating quantity of phenol red in mice,resist the symptoms of asthma by histamine phosphate in guinea pigs and prolong the latent period of falling down,and lessen the auricular edema induced by xylene in mice and paw edema induced by carrageenin in rats.CONCLUSION Nongbai mixture has good effects on stopping coughing,eliminating phlegm,inhibiting asthma and anti-inflammation.
