Stability study ofall-polymer field-effect transistors

2005
Wereport onasystematic study onthestability of organic field effect transistors built solely frommaterials which canbeutilised inconventional, highly productive mass-printing methods. We compare devices basedon twopolymer semiconductors that showgoodperformance intransistors: poly(9,9-dioctylfluorene-co-bithiophene), a commerciallyavailablematerial, and poly(triphenylamine), amaterial especially designed for highstability. Weperformed tests oftheevolution ofthe important transistor properties underambient storage conditions, undertheinfluence ofelevated andlow temperatures, under illumination with UV-light andunder operation ofthedevices. We fimda significantly improved stability of the devicesbasedon poly(triphenylamine) inalloftheexperiments and commentontherelevance ofthestability issues for prospected applications.
