Stress Analysis of Rings for Monocoque Fuselages

Suggestions are made for reducing the work and for increasing the accuracy of the calculation of the unknown quantities in closed rings of arbitrary shape for monocoque fuselages. The advantages of assuming three or four imaginary pin-joints instead of an imaginary cut through the ring are shown. Graphic methods are introduced for the determination of the moment distribution in the "simple" system caused by the shear flow transmitted by the sheet covering. Worked out examples show the application of the principles to numerical problems.
