Cleaning quality of surgical instruments in our county

Objective: To explore the cleaning quality of surgical instruments in hospitals of our county. Methods: Surgical instruments from four secondary hospitals and ten health care stations were sampled to examine the cleaning quality with naked eyes and megaloscope. Results: Among 2089 surgical instruments sampled from four secondary hospitals, 1567 met naked eyes’ standard (the pass rate was 75.01%) and 1,358 were qualified under megaloscope (the pass rate was 65.01%). Among 584 surgical instruments sampled from ten health care stations, 235 met naked eyes’ standard (the pass rate was 40.24%) and 205 were qualified under megaloscope (the pass rate was 35.10%). Conclusion: There are serious problems in the cleaning quality of the surgical instruments. Managers of various grade hospitals in our county should strengthen supervision and administration.
