A CASE OF PERFORATION OF THE TRANSVERSE COLON ASSOCIATING WITH MORGAGNI HERNIA

1996
An 88-year-old woman was referred to the hospital because of an abdominal pain. By simple X-ray examination of the chest and abdomen in addition to CT, perforation of the transverse colon associating with Morgagni hernia was suggested. Laparotomy was immediately performed. After the resection of the transverse colon, the hilus of the hernia was closed by knotted sutures. A 3×3 cm ulcer was found in the resected colon and the perforation was formed in the center of it, through which about 100 ml of content of the transverse colon flew out to the hernial sac causing local peritonitis. Histopathologically, strangulated change was also confirmed.
