CLINICAL ANALYSIS ON 12 CASES OF SEVERE ALLERGIC REACTION OF ANTI-TB DRUGS

Objective To improve the cognition of symptoms of allergic reactions caused by anti-TB medicine,and to reduce the delay in diagnosis and treatment.Methods A retrospective analysis on 12 cases with severe allergic reaction after the use of anti-TB medicine in Guangzhou Chest Hospital and Guangzhou hepatopathy hospital during June 2006 to December 2008.Result In all the cases,four were males while eight were females,with the age from twenty-one to seventy-two years old.All the cases consulted in outpatient department with a period of nine to sixty days of use of anti-TB medicine.The main manifestation were fever,rash and abnormality of liver function.After termination of use of the anti-TB medicine,together with anti-allergic and liver-protection treatment,nine cases recovered,one case left the hospital without doctor' permission,but two died.Conclusion Doctors should be aware of the severe side effect of anti-TB drugs and patients should be advised to consult the doctor immediately while they have symptoms as described in this article.Prognosis might be fine due to early treatment,otherwise is bad.
