Broadband optical power limiting of graphene oxide colloids in the picosecond regime

2013
In this work, the optical limiting action of some aqueous graphene oxide (GO) dispersions is investigated employing Z-scan technique under 35 ps, visible (532 nm) and infrared (1064 nm) laser pulses. The GO dispersions were found to exhibit important broadband optical limiting action, which was comparable to that of fullerene C 60 for visible laser excitation and significantly larger for infrared laser excitation. It is the first time, to the best of our knowledge, that the optical limiting efficiency of GO is investigated under both visible and infrared picosecond laser excitation conditions.
