Antiferromagnetic versus ferromagnetic orders in V, Cr and Mn overlayers on Fe(103)
1995
We discuss, within a d-band model Hamiltonian, the local magnetization and magnetic order of V, Cr and Mn monolayers on Fe(103) surfaces. For V on Fe(103), only one self-consistent solution is obtained, whereas for Cr and Mn on Fe(103), multiple magnetic configurations are present. We discuss the stabilities of the different solutions in terms of the total energy difference between them. The influence of the frustration effects in the case of the Cr and V overlayers is also analyzed.
