Production of gas generating composition

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a safe and effective producing method of a gas generating composition of an azide base suitable for generating a gas for expanding an 'air bag' by giving a product having desired fine particle size and mixing tightness of various components. SOLUTION: In the producing method of the gas generating composition containing a redox-couple including a water soluble azide component selected from the azide of sodium, potassium, lithium, calcium or barium and an oxidizing agent component selected from sodium nitrate, sodium perchlorate, potassium nitrate, potassium, perchlorate or the oxide of iron, nickel, vanadium, copper, titanium, manganese, zinc, tantalum, silicon or aluminum and capable of generating gas by reacting with the azide component, a water based dispersion of the redox-couple, in which the azide component is completely dissolved and the oxidizing agent is homogeneously dispersed in the azide solution and stabilized, is formed and the solid particles of the gas generating composition is produced by feeding the water based dispersion to a spray nozzle to form fine drop flow and allowing the fine drop flow to contact with a hot air to remove water from the fine drops to form solid fine particle of the object composition.
