Mechanical properties of unidirectional composites influenced by void defects in matrix

2020
Effects of voids in matrix on the micromechanical properties of unidirectional fiber-reinforced composites are studied in this paper based on the representative volume element mode. Mean deviation and standard deviation of the elastic and strength properties of the composite are delivered through randomly distributed voids and probabilistic interpretation. Biaxial strength properties in (σ 2 - τ 12 stress space is also calculated and compared with results calculated by Puck's criterion.
