The invention discloses a defrosting method combing temperature change with current value change for an air conditioner and a controller thereof. The defrosting method comprises the following steps: at first, a temperature detecting unit acquires temperature data of coiler temperature and indoor environment temperature; then, a main control unit analyses the received and acquired data, and judges a corresponding relationship between a drop difference value of the indoor coiler temperature and the indoor environment temperature and frosting condition according to different stages of cumulative operation time of a compressor, so as to enter into a defrosting period under control; an output unit is controlled to defrost after the air conditioner is judged to be frosted, and simultaneously a corresponding defrosting function code is displayed by a display unit; and a current detecting unit detects the current of the compressor in real time, so as to accurately exit from a defrosting period according to a corresponding relationship between the current value after defrosting is completed and current value when the air conditioner operates stably. Through the defrosting method, the air conditioner accurately is defrosted at accurate time and can exit from defrosting in time after defrosting is completed, thereby improving heating efficiency of the air conditioner.
